KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Kansas City police are hoping a big presence on the Country Club Plaza this weekend will prevent the kind of raucous behavior that sent patrons fleeing last week.

An estimated 900 youths converged Saturday night on the city's upscale dining and shopping district. Police say several fights broke out, some Plaza patrons were harassed and a high school girl posing for prom pictures was pushed into a fountain.

Officers used pepper spray to disperse groups of youths.

On Thursday, the Police Department issued a news release reminding parents of the city's midnight curfew for people younger than 18, and urging them to keep track of their children.

Police say they also will be prepared to respond if any unruly crowds form elsewhere.
