The EPA is set to test the former Missouri State Penitentiary property for contamination.

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Jefferson City received $234,221 in stimulus money to fund the testing.

EPA officials said the city will use the results to make business decisions about the property, which is possibly the site of future development.

Grants similar to this are given to communities who have no other way to pay for these expensive environmental investigations.
