COLUMBIA, MO. -- There are still five candidates in the race to become Columbia’s next mayor.

One of these men is 66-year-old Sid Sullivan, a retired sales and marketing manager.

Sullivan is the only Columbia mayoral candidate with an M.B.A. in Finance. Sullivan said he wants to be the next Columbia mayor because of his background in business and government.

“I can make decisions that affect the community. I think I am the man for the Mayor of Columbia,” Sullivan said.

As a young man, Sullivan studied to be a catholic priest only to change his mind one year from being ordained.  As mayor, Sullivan said he would create jobs, reduce crime and have a plan for future growth.

The youngest of the six Columbia Mayoral Candidates, Sean O’Day said Tuesday that he is dropping out of the race and endorsing Sullivan

O’Day said that Sullivan would be an effective and accountable leader.

“I’m humbled that he has decided to endorse me and to swing his way toward me,” Sullivan said. “He’s introduced politics to a lot of young people his own age and saying this is our community.  We need to get involved at this time.  It’s not just senior citizens and older people that are involved in politics.”

Paul Love, Bob McDavid, Sal Nuccio and Jerry Wade are also running for Columbia Mayor.

More Columbia Mayoral Candidate profiles are coming up each day this week
