Jack Ruppel, 36, will serve 16 months in federal prison

ELDON -- An mid-Missouri man will serve 16 months in federal prison without parole for his role in a multi-state dog fighting ring.

A judge Friday sentenced Jack Ruppel, 36, of Eldon and ordered him to forfeit all his seized property to the government.

Last July the FBI made a massive bust with local law enforcement and animal welfare groups.

Ruppel pleaded guilty to his role in the dog-fighting conspiracy last September.

He also pleaded guilty to selling dogs to fight.
