ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Two prisoner re-entry programs in Missouri have been awarded $2.9 million each in federal grants.

The U.S. Department of Labor awarded the grants to the St. Patrick Center in St. Louis and a Kansas City program called Connections to Success. The grants were announced Wednesday.

Both recipients operate programs through the Reintegration of Ex-Offenders initiative.

The initiative provides grants to faith-based and community organizations to help former inmates with job training, mentoring and other support services.
