Jefferson City apartments evacuated after gas leak

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Dozens of apartments were evacuated Monday after a gas leak was found in the apartment complex near the intersection of Linden Avenue and Myrtle Avenue, just north of Helias High School.

Construction crews were working in the court yard of the complex, when one of the excavators hit the natural gas line.

Ameren UE was on the scene and was able to shut off the gas line at 4:15 p.m.
