VIENNA, Mo. (AP) -- The Environmental Protection Agency has proposed adding three public drinking wells in a central Missouri town to its Superfund priorities list.
The site in Vienna, Mo., consists of three public drinking wells contaminated with a toxin known as PCE. The substance is used in dry-cleaning and metal degreasing and is a possible carcinogen.
Adding the site to the Superfund National Priorities List would make it eligible for federal funds to deal with contamination.
In July, Vienna received about $2 million in federal funding and a loan to improve its water system.
Vienna is located in about 30 miles south of Jefferson City.
