Record number of plungers as event celebrates 15th year

OSAGE BEACH -- The largest Polar Plunge in Missouri celebrated its 15th year Saturday afternoon.

A record number of people plunged into the frigid water in Osage Beach. Some 540 people took the plunge.

Among them: KRCG’s own Monica Madeja, Kassi Crimi, Mallory McGowin and Zach Paul. All the money raised goes to help the Special Olympics of Missouri.

No word so far on how much money this year's plunge raised but a 5k strut brought in over $13,000.

Over the past 15 years the Osage Beach plunge has raised over $1,000,000 to help Missouri Special Olympics athletes.
