COLUMBIA, MO -- Boone Hospital Center employees are leaving their mark on a historic occasion.

Hundreds of hospital workers have signed their names on a 22-foot-long, 600-pound steel beam.

The beam celebrates the progress being made on Boone Hospital’s new patient tower construction.

It will make its home in the hospital lobby until construction crews are ready to install it as the top piece on the new tower sometime this spring.

Hospital administrators and trustees were the last to sign the beam.

“While there is a great emphasis on the construction and the bricks and mortar, what makes this a great place to work with great enjoyment are the people who work here," Boone Hospital Center President Dan Rothery said. "They are the best.  They are the absolute best.”

The new patient tower is planned to be completed in the spring of next year.

The tower will be a Leed-Certified facility and will include 128 private patient rooms.
