CALLAWAY COUNTY --

The Callaway County Sheriff said his department is still trying to figure out what really happened during a standoff Sunday morning at a home on 7618 Wildflower Lane.

Sheriff Dennis Crane said initially there were four people inside the home. Two people left to call police saying there was a possible hostage situation and victim at the house.

Several deputies and a Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper arrived around 4 a.m. Sunday and found themselves in a standoff situation.

Two adults were inside the home.

Crane said the standoff ended peacefully and a man from inside was detained for questioning, but was released.

No one has been arrested and no one has been officially charged.

Also the sheriff said no one was seriously injured, negating earlier reports.

Crane said this is an ongoing investigation and new details could develop.
