BOONE COUNTY -- Some lucky sweethearts got some musical messages of love on the Friday before Valentine’s Day.

The Boonslick Chordbusters quartet serenaded dozens of blushing beauties with singing Valentines.

The crooners sang two songs and delivered flowers and cards to unsuspecting sweethearts.

Columbia’s Smithton Middle School Music Teacher Melissa Straw loved her surprise visit in her classroom.

“I’m so glad that they could come into my classroom because this is one of the styles of music that we study in our curriculum," Straw said. "We got a double dose today. We got a special treat for me and a special treat for them. I’m very appreciative. Thanks guys.”

Money raised from the singing Valentines helps support the Boonslick Chordbusters and the Columbia Public Schools Fifth Grade Honors Choir.
