Versailles man embezzles $1 million

VERSAILLES, MO. -- Authorities said a Versailles man stole more than a $1 million from his Morgan County employer.

Police said Daniel Bebermeyer obtained contracts for his company while providing false documents and not turning over all the proceeds.

Investigators sifted through company records after receiving a tip.

They said Bebermeyer may have diverted as much as $1.4 million over several years.

Officers arrested Bebermeyer on Wednesday at his home.

A judge set his bond at a $1 million.
