JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri's attorney general says the state ranks first in the nation in its Medicaid fraud recovery rate.
Attorney General Chris Koster said Tuesday that Missouri's Medicaid fraud unit used a nearly $1.6 million federal grant in 2008 to recover almost $30 million.
That amounts to a fraud recovery rate of $18.81 per grant dollar, which Koster said ranks No. 1 in the nation -- just ahead of North Carolina's recovery rate of $18.38 per grant dollar.
Gov. Jay Nixon was serving as attorney general at the time.
