JEFFERSON CITY -- Eleven airmen were honored Saturday afternoon for their service to our country.
The Missouri Air National Guard recognized the airmen who have deployed around the world, from Sep. 11, 2001 to Dec. 31, 2008.
The home-town hero’s say it's nice to be appreciated for their hard work.
"My family and friends are here,” First Sgt. Steve Cebunar said. “Just a very nice day for me."
The airmen have deployed to support operations Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and Noble Eagle.
They have also been involved with peacekeeping missions.
They say their families also need to be commended.
"Well it's really recognition for the families,” Lt. Col. Mark Bradley said. “I deployed two times for a total of 20 months and it's nice to be able to give them something in support of all the things they do for us, cause that's where the real work is."
The airmen honored serve with the National Guard from the headquarters in Jefferson City.
U.S. Rep. Ike Skelton (D) and Brig. Gen. Stephen Danner were also in attendance at the hometown hero’s salute award ceremony.
