JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Remarks by St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright were the highlight of the agenda for the Missouri governor's annual prayer breakfast.
Wainwright was the featured speaker at the event taking place Thursday morning at a Jefferson City hotel.
The breakfast is held on the second day of the legislative session and attracts lawmakers, public officials and other leaders. Proceeds go to the Governor's Student Leadership Forum on Faith and Values.
Wainwright finished third in this year's voting for the National League Cy Young Award. He has spoken publicly about his faith several times, including during an annual event at Busch Stadium.
KRCG's Chief Meteorologist Mike Roberts will host the event.
