JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- As the holiday season ends, several mid-Missouri places are recycling Christmas trees.

In Jefferson City, real trees can be dropped off at the parking lot of the Vivion Ball Field next to the Washington Park Ice Arena in Jefferson City.

In Columbia people can drop off trees at either the Capen Park or Parkside Drive mulch sites. City officials just ask that the trees be free of their stand or any decorations.

Columbia also has free curbside pickup for real and artificial trees until Feb. 4.

Jefferson City’s Allied Waste will do curbside pickup only for artificial trees. However, people need to call ahead and there's a $20 fee.

Recycled live Christmas trees will be used for mulch, landscaping and fish habitats.
