JEFFERSON CITY -- A Jefferson City man, who was shot multiple times last night, is expected to survive.

Police have questioned and released two men in connection with the shooting, which happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday at 217 Olive Street in Jefferson City.

"We don't have enough to hold them on," said Capt. Michael Smith. "We're trying to develop enough evidence to seek charges against these individuals, at this point, we don't have that. They were just persons of interest."

The victim's name hasn't been released because his family hasn't been notified. He was taken to University Hospital in Columbia and is expected to live, according to police.

So far it's not clear what led to the shooting. Police are investigating.
