MONITEAU COUNTY -- A new train track in Moniteau County is being credited for a perfect performance by Amtrak over the Thanksgiving holiday week.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says every Amtrak train that traveled across the state was on-time from Nov. 24 through the 30.

A ribbon cutting will be held later this morning in California, Mo. for the additional 9,000-foot side track that allows slower freight trains to move off the main track and free up the faster trains to pass through.

Before the addition, on time performance ranged between 55 percent to 79 percent.
