COLUMBIA, MO. -- A jury was selected today in the case of a Columbia man charged with killing his two-year-old son.
The jury was picked in Clay County and will come to Boone County tomorrow morning to hear testimony in the case.
Horace Johnson, 27, is charged with second degree murder in the death of his son Cortez.
An autopsy found the boy had more than 200 burns, cuts and bruises when he was taken to a hospital on the day he died in June 2008.
That day Johnson fled to Illinois, but was arrested by federal marshals on a parole violation.
Keyonda Lumpkin, the boy's mother, was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced in September to 24 years in prison.
