FULTON -- Updated Monday 5 p.m.:
A discarded cigarette ignited the weekend fire that badly damaged a Fulton home and injured one of its residents.
Fire investigators said the cigarette was left on the back deck. The fire quickly spread up the back wall of the house on Mohawk Drive Sunday night.
A 60-year-old woman who lives there was treated for smoke inhalation after she and her 20-year-old grandson escaped.

A Fulton house fire injured one person and the cause is still under investigation this morning.
It happened yesterday just before 5 p.m. at 1009 Mohawk Drive.
Fulton firefighters say when they got to the home they saw heavy smoke and flames showing from a single story wood framed home. Fire crews say the rear deck and outside walls were on fire. It took them 25 minutes to bring the flames down.
Everyone was able to get out of the home, but one resident was treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.
Investigators say smoke detectors were not working.
The fire caused some $40,000 in damage.
The Red Cross is helping the residents with a place to stay.
