JEFFERSON CITY -- In Jefferson City the demand for food has gone up.
The Salvation Army says attendance at yesterday's Thanksgiving dinner increased 25 percent over last year. More than 300 people turned out for a free holiday meal.
Volunteers served up turkey with all the trimmings. The Salvation Army thanks those who donated food and said the event brought families together.
"It's more than a safety net,” said Maj. K Kendall Matthews. “It's an opportunity for families to be fed a well balanced, wholesome and wonderful Thanksgiving dinner."
The Salvation Army has been hosting these Thanksgiving meals for over 25 years.
