Payless ShoeSource robbery marks fourth incident this month

JEFFERSON CITY -- UPDATE: June 2

Jefferson City police have released a sketch of the man they believe is responsible for a series of armed robberies on Missouri Boulevard.

Police say the man had two different hand guns on him during Saturday night's robbery at the Payless ShoeSource. It's the fourth armed robbery in the area in the past few weeks. Nobody was injured and police say the man made off with cash.

A Jefferson City Police Department spokesman says the suspect is the same man who robbed the Check Into Cash store more than a week ago, and he could be the man who robbed the La Placita store twice.

He's described as a white male, around six-feet tall, weighing 175 to 200 pounds.

Original story:

It's the fourth armed robbery on Missouri Boulevard in the past few weeks.

A man robbed the Payless ShoeSource on Missouri Boulevard around 7:45 p.m., displaying two different guns. Nobody was injured and the man made off with an "undisclosed" amount of cash, according police.

Police set up a perimeter to find the robber, even checking nearby woods, but the man fled and got away.

The suspect's described as a white man, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing 175-200 pounds. The man spoke with an accent and was last seen wearing a black hat, black polo shirt and black work pants, according to police.

This is the same description for a man who robbed the Check into Cash store on Friday and the La Placita store twice this month. There's no word yet on if the robberies are connected.

If you have any information you're urged to call police.
