Michael Yarnell is accused of killing his wife
VERSAILLES, MO -- A judge Wednesday approved a change of venue in the murder trial of Michael Shane Yarnell.
39-year-old Yarnell is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of voluntary manslaughter and one count of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michelle "Angie" Yarnell, who was 28 when she disappeared in 2003.
The jury trial was scheduled to take place in Morgan County, it will now take place in Laclede County.
Yarnell did not attend the arraignment hearing, his public defender James L. Wilson appeared in court Wednesday and waived a formal arraignment.
Yarnell was arrested in November in Biloxi, Miss., after disappearing in 2005.
Morgan County Sheriff James Petty says Yarnell told police his wife died after the couple fought and he pushed her off a 10-foot-high deck at their Ivy Bend home. He says her remains were taken to an uninhabited island off the Osage River.
