McConnell blames Democrats for stimulus plan problems

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConell says Democrats are to blame for problems Congress is having in passing an economic stimulus plan.

McConnell says President Barack Obama is having a problem with "his own party," because Democrats seem to favor spending over tax cuts as the top strategy for helping the economy recover from its woes.

He appeared on NBC's "Today" show

The Kentucky Republican said that GOP members are looking forward to meeting with Obama later Tuesday on Capitol Hill. And he said the GOP is trying to work toward a plan that would have at least 40 percent of the $825 billion measure go toward tax cuts.
