VANDALIA, MO. (AP) -- A convicted killer whose life-in-prisonterm was commuted by former Gov. Matt Blunt is now out of prison.
Stacey Lannert on Friday walked out of prison in Vandalia, about 75 miles north of St. Louis. She hugged and kissed relatives at a nearby restaurant and told reporters she is hoping to turn her second chance at life into something positive.
Lannert served 18 years in prison for killing her father in 1990. Prosecutors said she wanted his money. But Blunt, in commuting her sentence last week, said Lannert was the victim of sexual abuse.
Lannert is now 36. She will be on parole for 18 months.
