HOWARD COUNTY -- A jury in Howard County Wednesday returned a guilty verdict in the case of a Keytesville man charged with beating his friend to death with a tire iron.

Timothy Adams, 42, was convicted of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the December 2006 death of Willie Patton.

Another man, Doyne Rhoades, 42, of Moberly was found guilty last June in the murder. Police say the two initially attacked Patton at a Moberly home, then him to a county road where they killed him and left the body in a ditch.

The case was moved to Howard County for trial. Sentencing is scheduled for February.
