On Wednesday Gov. Matt Blunt proclaimed November as 'Missouri Adoption Month.'

The governor and first lady attended a special ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda to celebrate the success of the "Heart Gallery."

The "Heart Gallery" is a traveling exhibit of photographs of children in the foster care system who are available for permanent adoption.

This year, the exhibit has prompted the adoption of 61 children.

"The heart gallery has proved to be a great tool for recruiting adoptive families for children who are in our foster care system," explained Deborah Scott, director of Missouri Social Services, "And who are looking for permanent and loving homes."

About 1,500 of the 9,000 children in foster care in Missouri are available for adoption.

The "Heart Gallery" this year toured 22 locations in 16 Missouri cities.

It featured photos of 238 kids.
