(AP) -- BAGHDAD - Police in Iraq say a suicide bomber rammed his car into a police patrol today, killing six people and wounding 12 others. A security official says three policemen were among the dead. Four other officers were wounded. The attack came on the heavily secured highway leading from downtown Baghdad to the city's airport. The stretch was once one of the most dangerous in Iraq, but security has greatly improved.

Elsewhere, authorities report that one policeman died and three more were wounded when their patrol hit a roadside bomb southeast of the Iraqi capital. U.S. officials say attacks in Baghdad are averaging about four a day. That's down nearly 90 percent from levels of late 2006, when Shiite-Sunni fighting was at its high point.
