The veterans who made the trip to Washington D.C. Tuesday got a hero's welcome home early Wednesday morning.

About 60 Mid-Missouri veterans traveled on the 16th Honor Flight for the Central Missouri chapter.

The whirlwind day-trip allows World War II veterans to see their war's memorial in the nation's capitol. The Honor Flight organization pays for the veterans' trips.

More than 200 motorcycles escorted the buses full of veterans back into Columbia.

The Patriot Guard Riders said escorting the veterans is just a small way to say thank you for all the veterans have done.
