Holts Summit man dies in county road crash

A 23-year-old man from Holts Summit died Wednesday after a one-vehicle crash on County Road 4037.

Brandon Higgins lost control of the '99 Mercury Sable while entering a curve in the road at a high rate of speed.

The car skidded off the left side of the roadway, striking a mailbox, then overturned several times. Higgins, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle while it was rolling.

He was pronounced dead at University Hospital after being life-flighted from the scene.

Next of kin has been notified.
