A Columbia man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting two women Sunday night.

Police were called to the 700 block of Demaret Drive around 11 p.m. in response to a disturbance. During the 911 call police were able to hear an argument between a male and two females in the background.

The male was overheard making threats to assault someone with a knife.

Investigation revealed that 29-year-old Larry Parnell became involved in an argument with a woman he knows. During the argument Parnell allegedly punched the woman in the stomach and threatened her with a knife, placing the knife to her throat while threatening to kill her.

Parnell assaulted the other woman because he believed she called 911.

Parnell was arrested on two counts of assault and one count of armed criminal action.

Bond for the two assault charges is $5,500 and bond for the armed criminal action charge has not been set.
