Joseph Swaney was arrested after assaulting his wife.
An Osage Beach man is being held in Camden County Jail without bond today after assaulting his wife on December 21.
Osage Beach officers were called to a residence on Parkwood Circle around 9:45 p.m. and upon arrival could hear a woman screaming from inside.
Officers knocked on the door and Joseph Swaney answered, holding a knife.
When officers told Swaney to drop the knife, he slammed the door closed.
Officers could see inside the residence and saw Swaney holding his wife against a wall and holding the knife in a threatening manner. He then took his wife to the ground.
At this point officers forced their way into the residence and took Swaney into custody after a brief struggle.
Swaney was charged with first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.
Swaney's wife was transported to Lake Regional Hospital and released after treatment for a laceration and contusions to her head and face.
A puppy purportedly beaten by Swaney prior to officers' arrival has not been located.
