Armed and masked burglar shoots Columbia resident

Early this morning Columbia police officers responded to a to a burglary in progress in the 2000th block of Carol drive.

The officers found two men had forced in the back door of the residence. They were reportedly wearing masks and displaying handguns.

One of the men shot the resident of the home in the leg. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injuries.

The men had demanded property, but nothing was taken from the residence.

The forensic evidence team and investigators were called to the scene.

There have been no arrests made and the investigation is ongoing.
