United Way of Central Missouri announces grant opportunities

The United Way of Central Missouri is offering grants to area agencies effective immediately. The United Way of Central Missouri Board of Directors approved up to $75,000 to be used for one-time grants in 2013.

Grants are open to 501 (C) (3) agencies in the United Way of Central Missouri service area. Grants must further the mission of the United Way to help local people in need and provide community solutions; and addresses a need in the area of food, shelter, education, employment, health, or transportation. Grants must have measurable program outcomes and serve Central Missouri communities in part or all of Cole, Moniteau, Osage, Miller and southern Callaway counties. Applying agencies must have been in business for two or more years. Grant money may be used as matching dollars but may not be used for capital campaigns.

The Jefferson City Area YMCA ‘s generous gift of the Alameda building, in addition to a successful 2012 campaign are making it possible for the United Way to put additional funds back into our community serve those most vulnerable," said Dan Westhues, United Way of Central Missouri Board Chairman.

"During this time of increased need, we are grateful to have the opportunity to provide additional assistance to area agencies so they can help our neighbors in need," said Ann Bax, United Way of Central Missouri President/CPO.

For a complete list of grant criteria and/or a grant application, contact Ann Bax at 573-636-4100 or by email at ann.bax@unitedwaycemo.org. All applications must be returned to the United Way of Central Missouri office by Thursday, April 18, 2013.

A committee comprised of United Way board members, fund allocation members and additional volunteers will review the grant applications. Grant money will be released in late May.
