HALLSVILLE, MO. -- An apartment fire in Hallsville forces eight families out of their homes Friday night.

The fire at Heritage Apartments was reported by someone passing by the 8-plex about 7:40pm. It sits just north-west of the four way stop in the north Boone County town,

Crews quickly put out the bedroom fire contained to one unit, but quickly discovered another problem. The electrical service to the older building was tied to the unit that was damaged, and that could cause problems for everyone who lives there.

Assistant Fire Chief Doug Westhoff says if the families who live there need help finding a warm place to stay, his department will work with the Salvation Army and other relief agencies to find them help.

Westhoff says the fire was contained to one bedroom and the hallway outside. He estimates the building is 35-40 years old.
