Police seek two suspects in shooting, victim in stable condition

COLUMBIA -- A woman is in stable condition after being seriously injured in overnight gunfire in Columbia.

Police are still looking for the shooters.

Columbia Police officers were dispatched to the area of 900 Business Loop 70 East shortly before 2 a.m. in reference to shots fired with a possible shooting victim.

They were told that two vehicles had exchanged gunfire; one described as a white SUV and the other as a gray passenger vehicle. Investigators have identified and obtained warrants for the suspected shooters, Garrett Murray and Jeremy Ruff.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the 22-year-old injured woman, who was then taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Police do not believe she was the intended target.

Officers also found spent ammunition casings at the scene.

The warrants for Murray are for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Armed Criminal Action with a total cash-only bond of $300,000.

The warrants for Ruff are for Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Armed Criminal Action and First-degree Tampering with a total cash-only bond of $300,000.

Both men are considered armed and dangerous.
