A 71-year-old man was arrested after leading officers on a high speed chase Thursday afternoon.

A Belle police officer tried to stop a vehicle for speeding on Highway 28, but the man didn't stop and a chase ensued.

The chase exceeded 100 miles per hour as the vehicles crossed from Maries County into Osage County.

With the help of Osage County officers, the vehicle was forced to stop.

Authorities then discovered that Bland resident Ronald Buddemeyer was driving on a revoked license.

Police said Buddemeyer may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time and has three
prior DWI convictions.

Buddemeyer is being held in the Maries County Jail with bond set at $57,000. No formal charges have been filed.
