MOBERLY, MO. -- Mid-Missouri officials gathered in Moberly Tuesday night for a presentation called "America After Newtown: School Safety and the Second Amendment."
State representatives Casey Guernsey (R-Bethany) and Paul Curtman (R-Pacific) joined Osage County Sheriff Michael Dixon and Randolph County Sheriff Mark Nichols for the event.
Dixon offered some clarification for statements made Monday about the enforcement of federal gun control actions. He said that there are not any current regulations he would disregard; rather, he would not enforce any future executive actions taken by the president that Dixon said might be an attempt to sidestep Congress.
When asked if a situation were to arise where Dixon had to choose between keeping his job and standing by his word, Dixon said that he took an oath to uphold the Constitution and he will do just that.
The panel, sponsored by the Randolph Area Pachyderm Club, was open to the public.
