Charges have been filed against the 18-year-old accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint.

Robert Bethel is charged with kidnapping, armed criminal action and violation of an order of protection.

Montgomery City police say Bethel pointed a gun at 15-year-old Amy Jordan and made her get in his car. Jordan's mother reported her missing Wednesday afternoon when she didn't come home from her school bus stop.

Jordan told police that while she was held captive, Bethel repeatedly threatened to kill her if she didn't do what he said.

She was able to get the revolver away from Bethel at one point. While fighting over the gun, it discharged and put a bullet in the dashboard of Bethel's truck.

Jordan was not harmed during her abduction.

Bethel will be in court on January 24.
