The Joe Machens Dealership family continues to grow, despite a struggling economy.

Company officials announced the official opening of their brand new, stand-alone Mercedes-Benz store.

The new dealership has been open since January 1st and sits next door to Columbia’s Red Lobster restaurant. For the past five years, the Machens Mercedes-Benz showroom was located on Vandiver Drive.

Machens officials said people are buying luxury cars again as the country heads slowly toward an economic rebound.

General Manager Richard Vairo said, “The country has a whole has seen an economic downturn. The east and west coasts have both had their struggles. In mid-Missouri, we’ve kind of been in a bubble the whole time. We’ve continued to grow. We haven’t gotten worse. We’ve gotten better all the way through.”

Mercedes-Benz is a leading manufacturer of luxury and high-performance automobiles.
