JEFFERSON CITY -- It was a night full of pomp and circumstance at the State Capitol Rotunda in Jefferson City.

Governor Jay Nixon was sworn in for a new term this afternoon and celebrated this evening at the Inaugural Ball.

The Grand March took place at 7:00 p.m. with all of Missouri's state representatives and their families recognized. The march concluded with Governor Nixon and his wife, First Lady Georganne Nixon, making their first appearance of the evening.

The pair kicked off the ball by taking the dance floor with the Missouri Waltz around 8:45 p.m. Governor Nixon and his wife welcomed the state representatives, then the rest of the crowd to join in what was a very upbeat event.

Several guests of the ball came to welcome the newly added state representatives, and just to enjoy the party. Many stated that they were pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the Capitol Building and seeing guests in formal attire.
