(AP) -- A special task force on transportation says Missouri needs as much as $1 billion more a year for necessary improvements to roads and other transportation needs.

But in a report released Tuesday, the Blue Ribbon Citizens Committee on Missouri's Transportation Needs stopped short of suggesting a specific funding plan.

The panel says finding money for transportation likely will require a combination of techniques. It says possible options include bonds, toll roads, a sales tax increase or a fuel tax increase.

The committee delivered a copy of its report to House Speaker Tim Jones, who says he's looking for revenue-neutral options. He suggested redirecting money from entitlement programs to help meet transportation needs.
