COLUMBIA --

A car crashed into the Tiger Tots Child Development Center early Monday morning.

Columbia Police said at about 6:30 a.m. emergency responders found a green two-door car partially imbedded in the corner of the single-story building at 1611 Paris Road.

Representatives from Columbia's Building and Site Development said the daycare's foundation had been damaged.

Before the car could be removed, firefighters in the basement of the building constructed a double "T" vertical shore to support the first floor of the daycare.

With the extra support, the car was removed without any problems.

No one was in the daycare center when the crash happened and there were no injuries.

Authorities say until repairs are made, the building can't be occupied.

Columbia Firefighters were on the scene for approximately two hours. Two fire engines and a rescue equipment trailer responded to the incident.
