A two-alarm fire last night destroyed a business in Columbia

The Columbia Fire Department responded to an alarm just after 10 p.m. last night at Sound Performance located at 1310 Indiana Avenue.

A press release says that crews entered the building when they arrived but heavy smoke and fire forced them out.  As the firefighters exited the building, fire broke through the roof of the single story building. Because the building was no longer safe to enter, firefighters attacked the fire from the outside with hose lines and aerial ladders.

An additional three crews and an air resupply truck were called to help fight the blaze which took about an hour to get under control.

Crews remained at the scene overnight and investigators will return this morning to try and determine the cause of the fire. Building is considered a total loss with damges expected to exceed 300-thousand dollars.

No one was injured.
