An American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter volunteer is heading to New York today to assist with relief efforts from Super Storm Sandy.

The volunteer will serve as an Emergency Response Vehicle driver, replacing a volunteer that has been on duty since the storm hit.

The Heart of Missouri Chapter has sent fourteen people, twelve volunteers and two staff members, to the east coast so far.

Three of the chapter volunteers who were deployed early in the disaster response have since returned home.

The Red Cross says that the best way to aid in disaster relief is through financial contributions.
