Missouri woman named Rhodes Scholar

(AP) -- GLENDALE, Mo. (AP) -- A United States Military Academy student from suburban St. Louis has been selected for a prestigious Rhodes Scholarship.

The Rhodes Trust announced Sunday that Kiley Hunkler of Glendale, Missouri is among the 32 American students chosen to attend Oxford University in England next fall.

She is a senior majoring in engineering psychology and plans to ultimately attend medical school. At Oxford, she plans to study global health science.

Hunkler is a battalion commander and captain of the women's lacrosse team. She has interned at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. and worked at regional hospitals in Ghana.

She was one of 838 applicants from 302 college and universities.
