An 86-year-old woman turned herself into police Wednesday afternoon after hitting a pedestrian with her car Monday evening.

Marian Ohman was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and released on a summons.

Ohman's car was going north on Garth Avenue when it struck Elizabeth Chang, an associate English professor at the University of Missouri.

Chang was loading her children into her vehicle when she was struck. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The children were not injured.
