The Pike County Sheriff’s Office reports the escape of 5 inmates from the county detention center.

On Saturday at approximately 10:20p.m the Sheriff’s Office received a telephone call from a family member of an inmate claiming that there had been an escape.

A check of the facility revealed that 5 inmates were missing.

A check of the pod and the video system showed that the escapees had removed a tamper resistant stainless steel shower head / controller gaining
access to a service area and exiting the building.

The jail was completed in 1994 and the shower controls were original.

A complete inspection of the pods had been completed on Friday afternoon and no damage was detected at that time.

Gone from the facility are Jacob A Darnell male, white, age 22 of Louisiana, MO.  Jacob Darnell was being held on charges of domestic assault and possession of a controlled substance.

Jason A Darnell male, white, age 25 of Louisiana, MO. Jason Darnell was being held in Pike County from MO Department of Corrections and was to have a hearing on a charge of failure to
register as a sex offender.

He was in prison for possession of controlled substance.

Emanuel G. Chatman male, black, age 27 of Louisiana, MO. Chatman was being held on charge of domestic assault.

William John Thomas Wilkerson Jr male, white, age 40 of Florissant, MO. Wilkerson was being held on a charge of failure to appear on charge of stealing anhydrous ammonia in 2008.

Joseph A. Verive male, white age 49 of Elsberry, MO.  Verive was being held on a charge of domestic assault.

It is believed that Verive no longer has any local ties and may be headed to Arkansas.

The investigation has confirmed that Chatman and the two Darnell brothers were seen in the Louisiana, Mo area sometime between 10:30 and 11:00 pm on the 8th being driven by a black male in what is believed to be a 1993 turquoise Chevy Suburban.

Chatman is believed to possibly have contacts in the City of St Louis who may hide them out.

Additionally a 1999 Ford Ranger was reported stolen over night from Lake Shore Dr. in Bowling Green.

The Vehicle is described as a standard cab, short bed, orangesh yellow in color with a single ladder rack mounted on the left side and a Mizzou sticker on the back glass.

Any one seeing these men or having knowledge of their whereabouts should call their nearest law enforcement agency or the Pike County Sheriff’s Office at 573-324-3202.
