A new group claiming the innocence of a Columbia man convicted of murder will begin the re-tracing of Ryan Ferguson's steps on the day that prosecutors say he committed the murder of Columbia Daily Tribune sports editor Kent Heinholt.

Tonight at 8 pm , a group calling themselves the Freedom Fighters will gather at place police say the murder happened on November 1, 2001, in the parking lot of the Columbia Daily Tribune.

There they will back-track Ferguson's steps in order to show his innocence.

Ferguson was arrested in march of 2004 for the murder of Heinholt after another suspect in the murder testified that Ferguson was involved in the murder as well.

Ferguson has maintained his innocence throughout the duration of the case.

Ferguson's family has set up a website calling for Ryan's release from incarceration, with links to several Facebook pages in support of their son.
