Teens arrested after driving stolen car

COLUMBIA -- Authorities took two teens into custody after learning the car they were driving was stolen.

Early Wednesday, at about 3 a.m. Boone County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Enforcement Unit deputy stopped a vehicle on Stadium Boulevard at Carrie Francke Drive for a lane violation. 

Soon after, the deputy realized the vehicle was reported as stolen to the Columbia Police Department on July 17, 2012.

The driver, Donald J. Brown, 17, and passenger, Cody D. Lewis, 19, both of Columbia, were taken into custody without incident. 

Brown was processed at the Boone County Jail for first degree tampering with a motor vehicle and has a bond of $4500.

Lewis was processed for second degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

His bond is set at $500.
